[Mission Statement Template]

This template will help you to  create a clear, actionable mission for your team.

Team Mission Statement Components:

  1. What needs to improve? (the process, program., system, policy, capabilities, etc.)
  2. What is the better outcome or result desired and what is a simple way to measure it? (keep it easy to understand)
  3. What is the timeframe for the team to work on the mission? (not more than 60-90 days)

You can start with the outcome or results and work back to what needs to change; or you can begin with what you want to change and work to the measurable outcome or results. The key is connecting the means to the end so that brainstormed ideas are tied to what’s important and what can be improved.

Team Mission Statement Examples:

Your Next Steps:

  1. Draft your mission using the template.
  2. Test it with key stakeholders.
  3. Set specific completion date.
  4. Plan to break longer missions into 60 to 90-day sprints.
